F A Q
Q: Will the QuickStraight work on all prop shafts?
A: Yes, we now have available a Dual PropShaft Straightening Adapter for QuickStraight.
"patent pending"
Q: Can you actually straighten prop shafts in 20 minutes or less?
A: Yes absolutely, that time includes set up and you can also bring the QuickStraight
out to the boat in the yard saving valuable shop and bench space.
Q: Will that hurt the carrier, bearings, seals?
A: When the propeller hits the object and bent the prop shaft to begin with it didn’t break the carrier or hurt the bearings and seals. You are just bending it back the exact opposite and without the brunt force it had from the impact.
Note: Of course there will be times they smash the front of the case open. But you can straighten the shaft before you disassemble and its ready to install in the new housing. The QuickStraight System is so much easier and faster than the old way of v-blocks and press.
.
Q: Can you straighten prop shafts on small 6-8-10-15hp motors?
A: Yes you can, the QuickStraight tool has a special port to accommodate the smaller
prop shafts.
Q: Can you straighten prop shafts while the sterndrive is in a bench fixture?
A: Yes, you can use the QuickStraight virtually anywhere.
Q: Why would we want to straighten them? We just replace the prop shaft.
A: That’s fine, but there are a lot of customers who don’t have the money or didn’t have insurance and they would be happier to have the shaft straightened.
The shop can still make a good profit.
Q: I don’t think I’ve replaced more than 2 bent shafts in the last 10 years. Why would I need a QuickStraight?
A: I asked him if he ever spins the prop or watches the prop while it’s running on the hose. He said “yeah, I do see quite a few wobbling.” Enough said, call the customer and tell them the shaft is bent causing internal damage. $$$$ Thank you very much!
